Engagement Ring Retip and Repair
One of our clients asked if her engagement ring could be soldered to her wedding ring to stop her wedding ring turning on her finger and hiding the diamonds (as is the nature of partially set rings). We said sure, and had a closer look at her engagement and wedding ring.
We saw straight away that her claws were nearly worn out that were holding the diamond in. She was at risk of losing it with a good knock! We also noticed and told her about the damage to the top of her diamond while she was with us, which is probably when her ring got bent too.
So after quoting to fix all of this, we set to work on retipping the claws as new on the diamond, straightening her ring, and soldering her wedding ring to the base of her engagement ring. We took particular care to put her diamond back in the same position (NNE) as per the damage to the top of her diamond.
It was such a relief for her to put her rings back on her finger and not have to worry about turning her wedding ring back to the right position.

Padlock Bracelet Repair
One of our clients had a 9ct gold padlock bracelet that didn't really close securely any more, so she showed it to us. We observed that the arm on her heart padlock was worn in two places (as often happens) so it was weaker and bent easily when trying to open and close the clasp. Looking over the bracelet, we also saw the two jump rings at the end of the safety chain were very worn, and advised replacement of these.
Usually when these bracelets are presented with this kind of wear, the bracelet itself is very thin, worn and stretched. This particular bracelet was still in very good condition for its age, so we replaced the arm on the padlock, and the two little jump rings.
